Clairvest has decided NOT to proceed with a slot parlor project in Littleton.  UPDATED - 1/2/13 @ 5:35 PM - Clairvest has released the following statement: "Clairvest is continuing to evaluate opportunities for a gaming license application in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. However at this time, Clairvest has decided not to proceed with a project in Littleton, MA. As we continue to evaluate opportunities in Massachusetts, Clairvest remains committed to a transparent process that meets the needs of all stakeholders."

1/3/13 - Boston Herald: "Clairvest abandons bid to build slots parlor in Littleton." Lowell Sun: "Company: Slots off the table in Littleton

12/31/12 - Boston Globe: "Competition heats up for slot parlor license

12/30/12 - Lowell Sun editorial: "Slots worth the gamble? It's up to Littleton."

12/28/12 - Lowell Sun: "Littleton slots parlor not on table yet."

12/26/12 Clairvest released the following statement: "Given Clairvest's focus on the gaming industry across North America, we are currently evaluating the potential for a Category 2 gaming license application in the town of Littleton, MA. Specifically, we believe 'The Point' development currently underway at I-495 and Great Road has the potential to be the ideal location. Per the gaming statute, the facility would be a slot only facility, otherwise known as a 'slot parlor', with up to a maximum of 1,250 slot machines, and currently estimated at approximately 100,000 sq.ft. in size. At this time, Clairvest is only evaluating the potential for such a development, and has not submitted a formal application to the Commonwealth or a proposal to the Town of Littleton. Should Clairvest decide to proceed, it is committed to a transparent process that meets the needs of all stakeholders."

On 12/21/2012, it was reported that Clairvest, a publicly traded-company based in Toronto, had met with Massachusetts Gaming Commission staff and consultants that week as the first step to apply for a gaming license. Littleton also announced that "Littleton officials have been approached by Clairvest, but no specific proposal has been submitted to the Town. As a result of Clairvest's interest, Town officials have been familiarizing ourselves with the gaming statute and the impacts of such operations in other communities. The Town of Littleton is committed to a full and thorough public input and review process for any proposal which might be submitted."

Timeline - from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission's website:
