IBM plans to move 3,400 to Littleton

Boston Business Journal - Boston Business Journal

IBM plans to move 3,400 employees to its new software campus in Littleton, Mass., the technology giant plans to announce Tuesday.

As the Boston Business Journal first reported last month, IBM (NYSE: IBM) has agreed to lease a vacant 494,000-square-foot building at 550 King St. in Littleton, beating out Raytheon Co. for the space.

IBM spokeswoman Karen Lilla said IBM plans to move most of its 5,000 Massachusetts employees to the new campus. The company, however, will keep a research laboratory and web design unit in Cambridge, Mass., and a technology demonstration facility in Waltham. In addition, the move will not affect a substantial number of IBM technology consultants and employees who do not work in IBM's software division.

Lilla said the company plans to announce more details about the move on Tuesday, including the timing of the transition. She said employees were notified about the move Monday.
