You must call a private waste collection company. I am selling my home. What do I do first in terms of the septic system? Title 5 has changed since January of 1995. This change necessitates an inspection of all septic systems by a licensed Title 5 inspector. For your convenience, Nashoba Associated Boards of Health has a list of licensed Title 5 inspectors. What is the relationship between Littleton Board of Health and Nashoba Associated Boards of Health? Littleton Board of Health is the local Board. Nashoba Associated Boards of Health acts as our agent. What are the fees associated with septic systems? These fees are subject to change periodically. Littleton Board of Health has fees for septic system permits that are separate from Nashoba BOH's fees. All questions regarding the keeping of pets and/or livestock are referred to our Animal Inspector through this office. Are Board of Health Meetings open to the public? All of our meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to attend. The only exception to this is those portions of a meeting that require the Board to go into Executive Session. What records are open to the public? All records (minutes, correspondence, septic system plans, etc.) kept in this office are available to the public with the exception of sensitive medical matters. Can I get information on on-site septic systems? In response to questions regarding information regarding on-site septic systems, this office has on file records dating back to 1980. Prior to that date, most records are available if they were filed with this office or our agent. You can request copies of these records for a small fee. Additionally, copies of our local regulations are available for a fee of $4.00. What about the addition to my house? We have many inquiries on additions to existing property. There are many factors that determine if this is possible. This requires a full review of your existing permit and your proposed plans. The first step is to call this office for further information. Is there any financial assistance for repairing septic systems? The Board has completed the first round of the Community Septic Loan Program. This Program is a state-funded grant program administered by some municipalities. Currently, Littleton still has funds from the second grant round available for the repair of failing septic systems.
