PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

TRANSFER STATION REGULATIONS AND FEES

 

 

The Littleton Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 8:00 PM at the Littleton Town Offices, Room 103, 37 Shattuck Street, Littleton, MA 01460 on proposed amendments to regulations and fees for the Town Transfer Station effective October 1, 2010, by amending the regulations adopted on August 27, 2007 as follows:

 

Section 2. Purpose

A.(add sentence at the end of section 2) The Transfer Station is a “Pay As You Throw” facility.

Section 3. Definitions

A.(Add sentence at end of section) Pay As You Throw (PAYT) A fee is required with all solid waste disposed of at the Town Transfer Station.

Section 6. Operations:

Add new sections:

I. Solid waste shall be placed in “fee based” special colored trash bags only. Other trash bags may be placed inside a fee based bag for disposal.

J. Fee based trash bags are one time use only. Emptying of bags and reusing them is not allowed.

K. Fee based trash bags can be purchased at local stores. (see attached list of stores) (We have not contracted with any stores at this time, if the PAYT changes are voted a list of stores will be added at that time)

L. Fee based trash bags cannot be purchased at the Town Transfer Station.

Section 8. Enforcement, Violations and Penalties:

H. Disposing of solid waste in any trash bag other than inside of a fee based trash bag will result in an illegal disposal fine of $10.00 for each bag/barrel or other receptacle disposed of. 

I. If the illegal disposal fine is not paid on the date of occurrence , the users, Town Transfer Station sticker will become void. Until such time as the fine is paid in full.

J. No person shall be allowed to dispose of any solid waste unless they have a valid Town Transfer Station sticker.

 

FEE SCHEDULE. To amend the fee schedule adopted on August 24, 2009 by adding the following:

Section 11. Fee Schedule:

  1. Fee schedule calendar is from October 1st thru September 30th of each year
  2. Annual (non senior) sticker  $100.00
  3. Annual (non senior) second sticker $50.00
  4. Annual (senior minimum age 60) $30.00
  5. Annual (senior minimum age 60) second sticker $30.00
  6. Six month sticker          Discontinued
  7. Annual Recycling only sticker $30.00
  8. One day dump permit (restrictions apply) discontinued
  9. Replacement sticker $15.00
  10. 33 Gallon trash bag $2.00 each
  11. 15 Gallon trash bag $1.00 each
  12. 8.5 Gallon trash bag $0.75 each
  13. Appliances without Freon; dishwashers, stoves, water heaters and etc.; $12.00 each
  14. Appliances with Freon; refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and etc. ;$22.00 each
  15. Microwave ovens $12.00 each
  16. CRT’s, TV’s $18.00 each
  17. Propane tanks (empty) $14.00 each
  18. Tires (up to pick up truck size only) $5.00 each
  19. Bulky furniture; couches, stuffed chairs, mattresses and etc. $15.00 each
  20. Large metal items $22.00 each
  21. Wood/building debris (excludes asphalt shingles, drywall and insulation) Full size pick up truck load $55.00
  22. Brush/logs (full size pick up truck load) $35.00

      

Comments may be submitted in writing by noon on Friday, July 9, 2010 to the Board of Selectmen’s Office, 37 Shattuck Street, Littleton, MA 01460, or in person at the hearing.

HEARING NOTICE - Liquor License - The Board of Selectmen will conduct a public hearing on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 103 of the Town Offices located at 37 Shattuck St., Littleton, MA to act on the application of Stephen Marsh d/b/a Tre’ Amici, Inc.for a Common Victualler’s License and All Alcoholic Beverage License for Retail Sale as  a restaurant at the property located at 529 King Street, Littleton, MA. All interested parties are invited to attend. - Continued to July 12, 2010.

PUBLIC HEARING - Transfer StatioN Fees, Regulations -  The Board of Selectmen has scheduled a public hearing for Monday, July 12, 2010 at 8 PM on the adoption of fees and regulations to implement "pay-as-you-throw" solid waste dispsal.
