Below is an announcement from the TA issued on January 17, 2009. | FEMA Aid to Littleton for December 11-12, 2008 Ice Storm The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has added Middlesex County to the major disaster declaration for the December 11-12, 2008 Ice Storm. This qualifies the Town of LIttleton to apply for 75% reimbursement of some $233,000 in costs incurred by the Town in dealing with that storm event. On January 16, 2009, FEMA announced it was expanding disaster assistance to two additional Massachusetts counties to help pay for repair, restoration, reconstruction or replacement of public facilities, roads and bridges, water facilities and other infrastructure damaged or destroyed by severe storms and flooding that occurred from the December 11-12th Ice Storm. Middlesex and Essex Counties have been added to the major disaster declaration by President Bush on January 5, which provided assistance to the counties of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire and Worcester. Under the Public Assistance program local governments in the designated counties are eligible to apply for federal funds to pay 75 percent of the approved cost of debris removal, emergency services related to the disaster, and repairing or replacing damaged public facilities, such as roads, buildings and utilities. The Town has identified a total of $233,000 in qualifying expenses, incurred by these departments: Littleton Electric Light & Water Department, $189,200; Highway Department, $24,660; Fire Department, $13,300; and Police Department, $6,000.
