MAY 4, 2009 TOWN MEETING HIGHLIGHTS - Second Night - Tuesday, May 5th

Voters concluded action on the remaining articles in the warrant for the May 4, 2009 Annual Town Meeting. Read the results. Highlights included

Town By-law Amendments Approved (subject to approval by the Attorney General under MGL C.40,s.32

ATM-15 - Public Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages and Marijuana - provides for non-criminal disposition of public consumption of marijuana or THC, with a fine of up to $300.

ATM-23 Procurements - increases from $10,000 to $25,000 the threshold for sealed bids, to conform with MGL C.30B (procurements under $25,000 require three quotes)

ATM-24 Finance and Budget - addresses issues raised in Attorney General's March 2008 approval letter to specify a term of office for the finance director (Assistant Town Administrator for Finance & Budget) of up to three years, and to specify that the TA, subject to BOS approval, designates which ex officio financial office the finance director shall hold.

ATM-25 Appointment of Employees in Town Administrator Departments - amends Chapter 3 of the Town Code, Town Administrator, so that for those departments where the department head is appointed by the TA, the employees will be appointed by that department head subject to TA's approval. Tax Increment Financing – 151 Taylor Street
Town Meeting voters also voted to authorize the Board of Selectmen to adopt a Tax Increment Financing Plan designating the land at 151 Taylor Street, Littleton, MA, containing approximately 28.8 acres, more or less, as shown on Assessors Map R10, Parcel 14, as a Tax Increment Financing Zone under chapter 40, section 59 of the General Laws, The firm of Curtiss-Wright Controls is expanding its LIttleton operations and creating 30 additional jobs.
