At the time of the accident... ■ Check to see if anyone is hurt. If you or anyone is injured, immediately call for help by dialing 911 or contacting the local police department. ■ If no one is injured, and there is over $1000 in damage to the vehicle, contact the local police department to respond to file a report that will be needed for your insurance company. ■ If no one is injured and there is less than $1000 in damage, exchange license and registration information with the other driver(s). If at any time you are unsure of the amount of damage, please call the local police department to assist with the exchange of information.
After the accident… ■ Contact your insurance company to give them the details of the accident. ■ File a Motor Vehicle Crash Operator Report . This can be obtained by clicking on the link or is available at any police station. You have five days to fill out the report and send a copy to the following places: - Registry of Motor Vehicles
