New Police Station May 2008 Town Meeting approves $300,000 for police station design; debt exclusion ballot question passes 802-497 With support from voters at the May 5, 2008 Special Town Meeting, and the May 10, 2008 Annual Town Election, the Town of Littleton is designing a new Police Station for construction at Town-owned property at 500 Great Road. The estimated construction cost is $6,540,000, and funding for construction will be presented to Town Meeting and Town Election voters this Fall. Supplemental design funds of $300,000 were approved at the May 5, 2008 Special Town Meeting , with a debt exclusion ballot question approved at the May 10, 2008 Annual Town Election by a vote of 802 yes, 497 no. This supplemental $300,000 ($115,000 to complete design, $162,000 to produce construction documents, and $23,000 to bid out the project) would bring the total design cost to 9% of the construction total. On June 23, 2008, the Board of Selectmen voted to approve a Change Order with The Carell Group, Inc., Architects, of Hopkinton, MA in the amount of $300,000 for schematic design development, construction documents, and bidding to complete the design of a new police station to be located on Town-owned property at 500 Great Road. A October 2008 construction bid opening is planned. Construction funding would be sought at an October 2008 Special Town Meeting, with a debt exclusion ballot question at the November 4, 2008 Presidential Election. Construction of the facility could be completed by Spring 2010.
