Read the results of the May 4, 2009 Annual Town Meeting 

Voter-petitioned zoning amendments. Voter petitions for zoning amendments were due by Tuesday, February 3, 2009 for consideration at the May 4, 2009 Annual Town Meeting, per the policy adopted by the Board of Selectmen. Voter-petitioned zoning articles on the May 4, 2009 Annual Town Meeting are Prohibit Use Variances (referred to Planning Board on 9/29/08); and Fletcher property rezoning, Prohibit Crematories (referred to the Planning Board on February 5, 2009). 

Selectmen's Policy on Zoning Amendment Warrant Articles - WHEREAS, MGL Chapter 40A, section 5 affords the Board of Selectmen up to fourteen (14) days to refer voter-petitioned zoning amendment warrant articles to the Planning Board; and WHEREAS, said section 5 further affords the Planning Board up to sixty-five (65) days thereafter to convene its public hearing on said zoning amendment proposals; and WHEREAS, both the Board of Selectmen and the Planning Board desire that an adequate amount of time be afforded to the Planning Board to formulate its recommendation to Town Meeting on all proposed zoning amendments; THEREFORE, it shall be the policy of the Board of Selectmen to require that voter-petitioned zoning amendment warrant articles shall be received by the Board of Selectmen no later than ninety (90) days prior to the date of a town meeting."  

Warrants Close Forty-five Days prior to May Town Meeting. In keeping with last year's practice of closing the annual warrant forty-five days prior to the date of town meeting, the Board of Selectmen has voted to open the warrants for the May 4, 2009 Annual and Special Town Meetings on Tuesday, February 18, 2009 will to close them on Friday, March 20, 2009 at noon. Voter-petitioned articles require 10 signatures for the annual town meeting, or one hundred for the special.
