Shade Tree Committee

The Littleton Shade Tree Committee (STC) is a permanent committee of the town.

Town Code §13-8 authorizes the Board of Selectmen to appoint a Committee of five (5), one (1) of whom shall be the Tree Warden, to be known as the "Public Shade Tree Committee," for the purpose of purchasing, planting, and cultivating public shade trees in or near public ways.

Additionally, the STC promotes a healthy and sustainable community forest by planting quality trees and providing education and advocacy to the public on the benefits of trees.

The goal of the STC is to work in close cooperation with town departments, homeowners, and businesses on matters that affect Littleton’s trees, in order to preserve and improve a sustainable community forest and the character of Littleton.  The town provides funding for planting, maintenance, and removal.  The STC and Tree Warden select tree species appropriate to the available planting sites.

Meetings are held monthly during the spring, summer and fall.  All meetings are open to the public and input is welcomed
