Animal Control Officer

Phyllis Tower serves as the Animal Control Officer and Animal Inspector for the town of Littleton.

Services

The Animal Control Officer provides domestic animal control services to the community. The Animal Control Officer enforces Town By-Laws as well as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts animal control laws under Massachusetts General Laws (MGL) Chapter 140 Section 136A through 177. The Animal Control Officer responds to citizen requests for services regarding:

  • Animal bites
  •  Barking or dangerous dogs
  • Injured animals
  •  Loose animals
  •  Other requests for service

Bites & Scratches

You must contact the Animal Control Officer if you are bitten or scratched by an animal resulting in a break in the skin, if your pet bites or scratches someone else causing a break in the skin, or if your pet is bitten or scratched by another animal.

  2. Complain that a dog or dogs described above, constitute a nuisance because (select all that apply):

I, therefore, respectfully request that an investigation be undertaken pursuant to the provisions of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 140 Section 157, resulting in the issuance of any order necessary to abate the above-noted nuisance. I understand that this obligates me to attend a hearing and provide testimony under oath and I intend to make myself available for this purpose.
