The Long Lake Fishing Program offers an immersive and enriching experience tailored for young anglers. Designed to foster a deeper appreciation for fishing, environmental stewardship, and the great outdoors. Our program provides an ideal platform for young anglers to develop their skills and cultivate their love for nature.
What to Expect:
- A strong emphasis on boating safety, sun protection, and ethical catch-and-release practices.
- Instruction on identifying fishing holding areas and understanding feeding patterns.
- Lessons covering various fishing methods and presentations.
- Guidance on effectively using different artificial baits, including topwater, spinner baits, plastics, and live bait.
- Instruction on fishing techniques such as trolling, anchoring, and drifting.
The Long Lake Fishing Program promises not only skill development but also a memorable and enjoyable experience centered around the joys of fishing and appreciation for the natural world.
Anglers are required to bring the following each day:
- Type 3 Coast Guard Approved Lifejacket
- Water bottle
- Lunch
- Sunscreen
- Pen or pencil
- Colored pencils or Crayons
- Notebook
- Change of clothes
- Towel
They may bring their own fishing rod with a spinning reel.
Program Hours
Program hours are from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Friday is a built-in rain day. Before care is available as a separate registration and is held at the Shaker Lane School. Sailing students will be transported from Shaker Lane to the Lake by staff each morning. After care is not available for this program.
