Scholarship - Ray Grande Memorial Scholarship

Ray GrandeRay Grande was the consummate volunteer, well-known and respected throughout the community. In honor of Ray's commitment to the Library and his community-first attitude, the Trustees of the Reuben Hoar Library are proud to offer this annual scholarship to an incoming high school senior and resident of Littleton.

The Reuben Hoar Library Trustees are proud to offer the Ray Grande Scholarship to one or two High School individuals with anticipated graduation dates of 2025 or 2026 who are residents of the Town of Littleton. The intent of this scholarship is to provide students with experience in a public library setting while providing financial assistance toward educational fees or expenses.

Students interested in applying for the Ray Grande Memorial Scholarship must satisfy the following criteria:

  • The student currently attends a high school or can provide proof of home school and grade level status.
  • The student plans to attend a college or post learning institution (i.e. trade school, job apprentice program) within 15 months of graduation.
  • The student completes and submits an application with a written essay on or before the deadline, and must be prepared to interview with the library Board of Trustees and the Director if asked.
  • The student agrees to volunteer 100 hours of their time between May 1st and August 10th during library hours. Upon completion of these 100 volunteer hours, a one-time scholarship award of $2,000 will be granted to the student.
  • The student must provide a typed, one-page essay of no more than 350 words explaining the importance of community service and why they believe they are the ideal candidate to receive the scholarship.
  • Prior scholarship winners may not apply.
