Medical Reserve Corps

What is the Medical Reserve Corps?

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a national network of more than 300,000 volunteers, organized locally to improve the health and safety of their help in the event of an emergency for the town, whether natural or manmade.

Littleton Volunteer Corps maintained a stand-alone medical reserve corps until 2013 when MDPH initiated a regionally based approach. Today many Littleton Volunteer Corps volunteers maintain an affiliation with the recently formed Central Middlesex Middlesex. Reserve Corps.  However, maintaining membership in the regional MRC unit is not a requirement for Littleton Volunteer Corps volunteers.  The  Littleton Corps functions are to promote public health and public safety in an event that would threaten a community; promote healthy living through timely education and public service; and to respond to local emergencies. The regional medical reserve corps may serve to support local efforts, when the local resources request assistance, by providing additional medical or non-medical volunteers who have been vetted through the MA Responds registration system .

The Littleton Corps Members have supported vaccination clinics during the 2009-2010 H1N1 and again throughout the COVID 19 emergency. They assist Nashoba Associated Boards of Health during Flu vaccination clinics. The Corps has staffed shelters during ice storms, snow storms and severe weather emergencies. We have responded to provide support for our fire and police departments.  Our Corps trainings are conducted regularly and filled with lifesaving learning such as CPR, Stop the Bleed and much more.  Volunteers from all walks of life who can share their time and talents to help our town are always needed. Volunteers are truly the backbone of our organization. Please contact the Littleton Volunteer Corps at  for more information on how to volunteer.

Medical background or not, volunteers are welcomed.   It is easy to join and take your place in a team dedicated to helping community, family and friends.  Additionally,  you may leave a message for us with the Littleton Fire Department 978-540-2302
